Great Parnassus: “ Nothing wrong with this place” We chose Great Parnassus because it was advertised as kids friendly ( we have two: 6 and 3) Family rooms have bunk beds in enclosed area with its own TV (kids loved it) , pirate ship waterslides, mini-golf and the last minute price was good (it was few hunderd cheaper than similiar 4.5* in Cancun, kids pay less there?) After my booking was done I checked tripadvisor.com and I immediately got depressed with some of the reviews and started suffering from buyer remorse. So was our trip a disaster? not at all, we actually enjoyed our time there. What can I say about the hotel ? The best thing this hotel has is the friendly staff. It is kept very clean (you drop sth and there is somebody behind you with the dustpan). Our room was spacious, bathroom was very clean and we had a great view from the balcony Canadian tour operators rate it 4.5*, but American rating is only 3.5* (I would rate it 3.75*) All restaurants are located on the lower level and you can get little bit of that luxury feeling walking around that area. Beach was OK, but the waves were high, so no swimming. The food was AVERAGE at best and I'm not a picky eater. We used the buffet for breakfast and lunches. Breakfast was OK, you can get custom made omlets, pancakes. But lunch selection was quite weak: mostly meat in heavy sauces and too much BBQ stuff. Dinner was different story. We tried all restaurants (French, steakhouse, Italian and American), no booking was needed and there were no linepas. Food and service were good . It is true that this hotel needs more elevators. Most guest on floors 1-3 preferred taking the staiways each time, instead of waiting for elevators. The entire Cancun hotel strip is jammed with hotels, there are hardly any trees there. You don't get that excotic tropical feeling and it is a minus for me. My kids had lots of fun, we spent a lot of time playing min-golf with my son and my little girl made friends with the hotel clown. So in general if you have kids you can take this hotel under consideration.
